smf vs phpbb

I am sure you have come across many articles that discuss the phpbb vs smf and yet i dare to give in my own perspective ;)

both these forum scripts are highly efficient and are free.so, what does it make you choose one thing over the other? i say it depends on your skills and needs.

firstly smf is more simpler than phpbb,if you are a first timer with forums then i suggest you choose smf.installing mods,configuration is fairly simpler.

on the other hand phpbb as i have noticed is more advanced.It has more options and tweaks to customize your website to your needs.and one more plus point is that phpbb is
easier to skin.

smf on one hand is light,it uses lesser resources.I run a forum with 20,000 members with 100+ online any time. it still uses around 15gb bandwidth per month.phpbb is more heavier.

so,it all comes down to you.choose what suites you :)
